The MCE continues its four-year sequence of ecumenical programs celebrating universal sentiments that are part of the Christmas experience. The topic this season is Joy and will include choral works from a variety of historical and cultural perspectives interspersed with readings appropriate to the theme.

1780 in Salzburg and New York City:
Mozart's Vespers and Early American Choral Music
The MCE will create a unique and compelling program in March, 2012 contrasting and combining the musical worlds of Salzburg and New York City in 1780. Contemporary hymns, works by Billings (the father of American choral singing), Belcher, and Morgan, and Mozart's dramatic setting of the five psalms of the Catholic Vespers service will be presented together. Additionally, the MCE has commissioned New York City composer Trevor Weston to create a unique new work to be premiered at the performance.8pm, Saturday, March 10, 2012

New Music for New York
To further our mission of creating new works for choir by emerging NYC composers and following the resounding success of last year's program, the MCE will perform three brand new works this Spring.
